Can I make a Scoreboard out of an old Digital Alarm Clock or is there a better way?

I have no knowledge of how electronics work or schematics, but I want to create a game. I want to know how to create a button, when pressed, will change the number on a scoreboard. There will be team one and team two. Kind of like a home team and visitors on actual baseball scoreboards, but there is no need for a timer. Both scores would have to be kept and the scoreboard needs to be small (about the size of a digital clock on a night stand). Please help! Maybe there is already something I can buy and tweak for my needs? Thank You!

A company called Electronic Goldmine sells a two digit "next person to be served" counter kit that increments via push button switch. It is a complete kit including the AC adapter, a 2 3/4" tall two digit display composed of discrete LED lamps for that authentic score board look. The soldering is mostly done for you, with only the power jack and two push button switches (included) to be soldered to wires from the pre assembled circuit board. I think two of them would suit your needs nicely. http://www.goldmine-elec.com From the home page select "kits" and then "counter kits" and look for item G16774 Please note that I have no affiliation with Electronic Goldmine.
